Dear diary...
monday was my first day at work. and it basically rocked. that, disregarding the fact that i have to arrive there before the sun comes up.
so i'm the new computer lab assistant/tech support. [waves, cheesy smile]. i've been nagged on to get a job for a while now. one day i saw i sign up while i was taking a two minute break to stretch my legs from my 2&1/2 hour class. i knew i would get it. went in for the interview and called in later to find i got it. so hi, i'm sarah, nice to meet you.
now just for your info, dearest mr. diary, this is not the downtown campus. this is the sleek new business bldg 20 mins away from the house. that place where when you walk in for your class there's basically a buffet of free food waiting for you? the place where it's tip top clean? high tech? yeah there. and now i have access to a computer the whole time i'm there. oh yeah, and i'm getting paid to do that.
but i gotta tell you about monday. my shifts mostly coincide with chris' shift. he graduated with a philosophy major, and we got to talking (during the amazing amount of time with nothing to do, rolling around from computer to computer in our black office chairs). he presented a really very interesting comparison between jesus and a parable he told (and nearly had me). but we looked up the passages (matt 21 and 26), and got really into it, breaking it down. of course i breathed my no-word-prayer, because i knew i'd suck at trying to defend on my own. with the readings and dictionary.com open we spent i'd say about two hours and a half on it, back and forth, as we sat and as we walked to answer to tech support... lets just say it started 1:0 for him? the final score? x:x+3. 3 phrases came out of my mouth that left him in the thinker position thinking reaaaaaal hard. i seriously didn't know i could say them. rather: it wasn't me who said them.
[another 'philosophosizer', as we call em, friend of mine: "whatever. you cant beat me. i'll find holes in everything you say...except for religion because that is backed with something that really cant be argued, faith."
um.
no.
coz in that argument above, not once was any of my premises one of faith. it was all pure argument on the context, the word usage, and the intentions behind the characters. dude, you can't beat God.]
time flew. and so was my wonderful first day at work.
