[Monday, August 18]

j'ai vingt-trois ans.

why is God always depicted as a fit but elderly man? He isn't X years old. God is timeless, ageless. We were made in his image, but why when reverse it to figure out what his image is, we chose the oldest, most unappealing stage? fine; to reflect wisdom and his longevity.
He is the epitome of strength. so perhaps a younger man? not necessarily a body builder, but surely a micheal phelps sort of strong? an endurance.
but surely, as a baby too, for He is ever only the beginning of eternity?
his entity cannot even be imagined. we are constantly changing. even from day to day we look different. we count up the years. God doesn't. He goes every which way in time. so how can we put a face to him, defined by a familiarity which would limit his timelessness to a certain point in the present?
i enjoy God in His entity as God. capable of being opposite extremes simultaneously. unchanged, unchanging perfection.and blindingly radiant.
heh... dunno if this has anything to do with having recently finished c.s.lewis' out of the silent planet. but anyway. onto the next.
